Getting an RCFE certification can be rewarding if you want to work with the elderly. This certification broadly allows you to work in the field of elderly care, such as working in a memory center or an assisted living community. One certification you can get in addition to the normal one is the RCFE administrator certification. There are a few things that an RCFE administrator does that other RCFE-certified staff do not.
Assisted living administrators have many job duties, but broadly they manage the assisted living facilities or health care facilities that they work in. They coordinate the patient care and supervise the employees to ensure that the proper care is being provided and that procedures are being followed to create a happy and healthy environment. An administrator may create schedules and coordinate care plans, and they may oversee billing, budgeting and training. However, some administrators may delegate some of these duties to other employees depending on the size of the facility. The administrator almost always works in an office setting inside of the facility. This job is usually a regular 40-hour work week, however sometimes you may have to work overtime in order to maintain the integrity of the care facility. Sometimes, there will be travel involved. This is especially important if the company you work for has multiple facilities that need inspecting, or if there are out-of-town meetings to attend for large, widespread companies. If you are considering a career working with the elderly, and you believe you are a natural-born leader, then getting your RCFE administrator certification may be the right step for you. In addition to the normal classes to get RCFE certified, you will take special administrator classes. Becoming a quality administrator can make you the backbone of your facility, ensuring the quality and care that customers expect you to provide to the patients that are in your care.
