Before you can work as an administrator in a residential care facility, you need to get certified. Becoming a certified RCFE administrator takes time and requires you to take assisted living training classes online. If you're ready to get started, here are the steps you need to complete to be certified as an RCFE administrator. Step 1: Complete Assisted Living Training Classes Online The first step of this process is for you to take online training classes through a vendor approved by the Administrator Certification Section. These classes on assisted living will teach you everything you need to know to prepare for the certification exam. You also won't be allowed to advance to the next step until you finish them. Step 2: Take and Pass the Exam After completing the online classes, your next step is to take and pass the certification exam. To pass, you must achieve a score of 70% or above. Once ACS scores your exam, a letter will be mailed to you with the results and whether or not you passed the test. If you did, you can proceed to the next step. However, if you failed, you can retake the exam within 60 days after you initially finished the online training. Step 3: Submit the Application Packet Once you've been notified that you passed the exam, you must submit a completed application packet to the ACS. Sending it certified via US mail is recommended to ensure it gets delivered to the correct location. Then you can check the status of your application through the ACS website. Becoming an RCFE administrator begins with completing the assisted living training classes online. They are the key to passing the exam so you can complete your certification.
